Black Repertory Company’s Sound Session ‘05

In the spirit of Mardi Gras, Brazilian and Caribbean Carnival, Sound Session ‘05 combines music, culture, food and community to unite and celebrate the rich diversity that exists within Providence and the State of Rhode Island.
The Black Rep is looking for volunteers to help with:
- July 19-21 - help craft and/or to oversee mask and costume making from 1-5pm and again from 7-11pm
- July 22 - Jazzmasters Workshop with legendary performer, Ron Carter.
- July 23 - communtity event at Billy Taylor Park in Providence from 1-5pm featuring music, arts and performances from African/African American cultural traditions for community families from across the city.
- July 23 - an evening of music in concert with Waterfire at Waterplace Park.
- July 23, 10pm-1am - Sound Session ‘05 parade will weave it’s way through downtown Providence to one of three stages set up in and around the Providence Black Rep on Westminster Street. Join the parade for dancing in the streets of the city ’til 1am. Volunteers are needed at Waterplace Park to help organize and marshal the parade from Waterplace Park and at Westminster Street for set up, clean up and crowd management at the block party.
