Providence
Ah Providence, the city we love. Home to approximately 170,000 residents, Providence is an amazing blend of old-school manufacturing, world-renown universities, technologists, designers, incoming yuppies, immigrants from all over the world, and well, you name it, we’ve got it.
Providence has a marvelous arts scene that contains something for everyone: a Broadway Theatre, the Providence Performing Arts Center; one of the country’s leading theatres, The Trinity Repertory Company; a regionally known live music venue, Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel; and last, but not least, The Festival Ballet. These are but a handful of the cultural resources in our wonderful city.
Home to seven institutions of higher learning, Providence benefits from a constant influx of young minds from the Rhode Island School of Design, Brown University, Johnson & Wales University, Providence College, Rhode Island College, University of Rhode Island, and the Community College of Rhode Island.
In recent years, Providence has also developed a strong information technology and digital media scene, with groups like Providence Geeks, RI Nexus, and AS220 Labs helping to focus and reinforce the local population.
